This guide will enable you to quickly get started with your card printer when you run it for the first time.

  • Once you have unpacked the card printer and its accessories from the box, connect the power cable to the power supply unit and plug the power cable connector into the card printer.
  • Next, plug the end of the power cable into an earthed power socket.
  • The card printer is powered on: the control panel lights up showing the printer is working properly.
  • To install the card printer driver, insert the ‘Drivers, software & documentations' CD into your computer and select the print driver menu. A program will guide you through the entire installation process for the driver.
    NB: It is essential to install the card printer driver before connecting the card printer to the computer via the USB cable.
  • Once the driver for the device has been installed on the computer, connect the USB cable to the computer and card printer.
  • Open the card printer cover and insert the ribbon.
  • Close the cover and press until a click is heard. The ribbon positions itself automatically.
  • Open the card feeder.
  • If necessary, adjust the gauge lever from right to left depending on the thickness of the cards used, from 0.25 to 1.25 mm (10 to 50mil).
  • Insert cards into the feeder (capacity: 100 cards maximum of thickness 0.76mm)
    Note that the cards are printed on the upper face.
  • Close the feeder.
  • Run a print, the printed cards are delivered to the output hopper (capacity of the hopper: 100 cards maximum of thickness 0.76mm). To remove the printed card, open the door of the output hopper.

The cleaning LED warns you when you need to clean the insides of the card printer (every 1000 cards processed).
Passing the adhesive card repeatedly through the card printer cleans the cleaning roller. This removes any residual dust found on the front and back faces of the cards before they are introduced into the card printer.

  • Open the card printer cover.
  • Remove the ribbon from the card printer if present.
  • Close the cover and check it has clicked shut.
  • Open the feeder.
  • Remove any cards present in the feeder.
  • Using the gauge, set the card thickness to the MAX position.
  • Peel off the film from a new adhesive cleaning card supplied by Evolis.
  • Double-click the control panel’s pushbutton.
  • When the Card/ribbon LED on the control panel flashes, Insert the cleaning card in the opened feeder, adhesive face upwards. Cleaning starts.
  • The used adhesive card is ejected automatically into the output hopper. Open it and remove the used adhesive card.
  • Put the ribbon back into the card printer, then place some blank cards in the feeder and adjust the gauge to the appropriate card thickness.

Please note that the print head is a delicate part of your card printer. To avoid any damage to it:

  • Disconnect the card printer before cleaning the print head.
  • Fully comply with the recommended cleaning cycles.
  • Always avoid the print head to be in contact with sharp or metallic objects.
  • Do not directly touch the print head surface with your fingers.

Please note that violating any of these recommendations could cause permanent damages to the print head.

  • Unplug the power cable to power off the card printer. The pushbutton switches off.
  • Open the card printer cover.
  • Use a swab supplied by Evolis Card Printer and press the centre of the tube until it clicks and releases the cleaning product.
  • Gently apply the swab onto the print head, moving it from left to right and for a few seconds.
  • Close the cover.
  • Wait a couple of minutes before using the card printer until the cleaning product has fully evaporated.
  • Reconnect the power cable and power the card printer on. The pushbutton turns on.

To carry out an in-depth clean of your card printer, we recommend you clean the card feed rollers in addition to carrying out a basic clean every 5 regular cleans.

  • Open the card printer cover.
  • Remove the ribbon from the card printer if present.
  • Close the cover and check it has clicked shut.
  • Open the feeder.
  • Remove any cards present in the feeder.
  • Using the gauge, set the card thickness to the MAX position.
  • Remove a new "T" shaped cleaning card provided by Evolis Card Printer from its sachet.
  • Double-click the control panel’s pushbutton.
  • When the Card/ribbon LED on the control panel flashes, Insert the "T" card into the opened feeder. Cleaning starts.
  • Remove the "T" card
  • Peel off the film from an adhesive cleaning card supplied by Evolis Card Printer.
  • Insert the cleaning card in the opened feeder, adhesive face upwards. Cleaning starts.
  • The used adhesive card is ejected automatically into the output hopper. Open it and remove the used adhesive card.
  • Put the ribbon back into the card printer, then place some blank cards in the feeder and adjust the gauge to the appropriate card thickness.

  • Reconnect the power cable and power the card printer on. The pushbutton turns on.

The dust filter is located above the print head fan. This filter can become fouled up over time and it is recommended to clean it once a year or every 10,000 cards depending on your working environment.

  • Open the card printer cover. Locate the dust filter.
  • Remove the filter by pulling it upwards and slide it out to release it completely.
  • Once the filter is removed from its slot, obtain a cleaning wipe supplied by Evolis Card Printer.
  • Clean the filter by rubbing the wipe either side of it.
  • To replace it, insert it in its slot (notch towards you) and lower it until you hear it click indicating it is correctly positioned.
  • Close the cover.

  • Press on both sides of the feeder and detach it from the printer by lifting it up and out.
  • Flip the feeder over to gain access to its lower part.
  • Depress the plate and insert the cards. Repeat this process until you have loaded the feeder with the required number of cards. Note that the feeder maximum capacity is of 100 cards maximum, for cards with a thickness of 0.76 mm.
  • If required, adjust the gauge from right to left to match the thickness of the card to be processed, from 0.25 to 1 mm.
  • Reinsert the feeder back into the printer. The feeder will be correctly positioned when you can actually hear a click on inserting it in the printer.

  • Close the clamshell cover.
  • Wait a couple of minutes before using the printer until the cleaning product has fully evaporated.
  • Reconnect the power cable and power the printer on. The white push button switches on.

  • Locate the cleaning roller and remove it from its housing.
  • Use a cleaning wipe provided by Evolis.
  • Remove any dust by gently rubbing the wipe across the roller’s surface.
  • Once the roller is clean and dry, place it back in the printer.
  • Then, set the ribbon back.
  • Close the printer cover.

Cleaning the insides of the printer is required every 1000 cards processed cards, when the cleaning LED alerts you.

  • Switch the printer on and open the cover.
  • Remove the ribbon, then close the cover.
  • Remove the printer feeder.
  • Use a new cleaning card provided by Evolis.
  • Empty the feeder and insert the cleaning card in the feeder.
  • Adjust the card thickness gauge to the MAX position.
  • Slot the feeder back into the printer.
  • Press for one second the control panel's push button. The cleaning process will start.
  • As the card passes multiple times inside the printer, it cleans the card transport rollers, the cleaning roller, the print head and the encoding head if your printer has this option.
  • The used cleaning card is then ejected to the hopper.
  • Put back the ribbon in the printer, and the blank cards in the feeder while adjusting the gauge to the appropriate card thickness.

Printing a test card makes it possible to collect technical information specific to your printer. We suggest you print it immediately after the initial installation of your printer. Keep this card at hand.

  • Make sure a ribbon is installed in the printer and that a blank card is loaded in the feeder.
  • Switch off the printer by pressing the push button for a few seconds. The green LED switches off.
  • Then, power on you printer while simultaneously pressing the push button.
  • Release the button when the green LED starts blinking.
  • The test card will be printed within seconds. It displays information such as the printer model and serial number.
  • The test card is then ejected to the output hopper.

Before you install a printing ribbon, make sure that the printer driver is suitably configured.

  • Open the printer cover.
  • Take a new ribbon and insert it inside the printer, while making sure it is properly positioned.
  • Close the printer cover. The ribbon will, by default, synchronize itself to its correct position.

Tattoo printers accept cards with thicknesses from 0.25 to 0.76 mm, while adjustment for card thickness is performed automatically.

  • Press on both sides of the feeder and detach it from the printer by lifting it up and out.

You can choose from 2 different modes of collecting cards in this hopper:

  • First, an automated eject mode. In this case, you are advised to use the detachable hopper supplied with the printer.
  • Or a manual feeding mode. The card will be retrieved manually once it is personalized.

You can set how cards will be ejected from the Properties menu of the printer driver.

You can expect these rollers to be dirty, as the result of doing their job efficiently.

  • Open the printer cover.
  • Remove the ribbon.
  • Locate the cleaning roller and remove it from its housing.
  • Use a cleaning wipe provided by Evolis.
  • Remove any dust by gently rubbing the wipe across the rollers surface.
  • Once the roller is clean and dry, place it back in the printer and make sure it is in its appropriate position.
  • Then, set the ribbon back and close the printer cover.
  • Remove the printer feeder.
  • Clean the roller with the wipe by gently rubbing it.
  • Then, reattach the feeder to the printer and push it until it clicks in its slot.
  • The printer is now available.
  • Wait a couple of minutes before using the printer until the cleaning product has fully evaporated.

  • Switch the printer on and open the cover.
  • Remove the ribbon, and then close the cover.
  • Press on both sides of the feeder and detach it from the printer by lifting it up and out.
  • Remove any card located in the feeder.
  • Use a new cleaning card provided by Evolis and place it in the feeder.
  • Press the control panels push button for one second.
  • The cleaning process will start.
  • As the card passes multiple times inside the printer, it cleans the card transport rollers, the cleaning rollers, and the print head as well.
  • The used card is then ejected to the output hopper.
  • Place back the ribbon in the printer and the cards in the feeder.
